For studios
Every hour afterpatch collects Steam reviews and compares how players react to each update with what's usual for that game. Here's what that shows for one game — and what we'd like to build for studios.
What we see for a game
example · this week's top story on the home page ARC Raiders Last 7 days: 73% positive reviews against the game's usual 52% — M5, quake. Reviews in the last 7 days: 6,545, ×6.5 compared with a usual week. Everything on this game — on its page →- Reaction to every patch. The share of positive reviews in the week after an event against the game's usual, and the size of the shift on the M0-M5 scale — adjusted for this particular game's normal ups and downs.
- Topics of complaints and praise. What players write about more than usual: performance, balance, content, price. Topics are tagged by a language model; not every game has them yet.
- Languages. Who writes the reviews and how the reaction differs by review language.
- Players online next to the reaction. How the number of players changed from the previous week — in percent, next to how the event was received.
- Similar games. By store tags, usual share of positive reviews and scale. For the game in the example: THE FINALS, Overwatch®, Escape from Tarkov.
We record that reviews moved in the week after a patch, not that the patch moved them. We don't grade games or studios. How it's calculated: How we measure.
What's coming later
We'd like to build a paid workspace for studios. There are no prices or dates yet: first we want to find out whether it's needed.
- Follow your games and competitors. In one list, with history from the first day of collection.
- Alert on a shift. A message when the reaction to your game is shaking more than usual.
- Comparison with similar games. How games of the same genre and scale received the same week.
- Export for reports. Your game's share, events and topics as a table.
