How to cite
Best: the number together with the game's usual. Examples (the game and numbers are made up):
According to afterpatch, in the 7 days after Patch 1.4, 61% of the game's Steam reviews were positive, against its usual 78%.
According to afterpatch, players met Season 3 within the game's usual swings: 84% positive reviews in the week after, against 85% in the week before.
Best avoided:
- A number without the game's usual. “61% positive” without “against a usual 78%” will be misread.
- Causes in our name. We record that reviews moved in the week after a patch, not that the patch moved them. You're of course free to give your own view on causes.
- Words like “collapse” or “disaster” attributed to us. We measure the strength of a shift on the M0-M5 scale, not with adjectives.

Charts and cards
afterpatch charts and cards can be published, including in commercial outlets, with the credit “afterpatch” and a link to afterpat.ch. License: Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0).
The license covers only our infographics. Game cover art, titles and logos belong to their rights holders, and review quotes to their authors: the license doesn't extend to them. Nor does it cover the data itself — review series and calculations: bulk downloading them is prohibited by the site terms.
A request, not a license condition: please don't crop a card so that the game's usual or the date disappears.
What to know about the data
- These are Steam reviews only. They're written by the most engaged players — this is not a poll of everyone.
- Until the first week after an event has passed, there are still few reviews, and the reaction is preliminary.
